To make India’s stand on child protection clearer than before, the Government of India enacted The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act in 2012. It is a special law that treats everyone under the age of 18 as child and lays down stringent punishment for anybody who commits sexual abuse or sexual assault against a child. To safeguard the interests of the learners, Bharti Vidyapeeth’s School of Excellence has set up the POCSO Committee . The Committee works towards safeguarding the learners from the challenges they face in their formative years at school. The Committee takes up age appropriate initiatives to create awareness about sexual exploitation and to ensure that all learners are aware of their rights and responsibilities towards themselves. Training sessions are conducted for the faculty and staff to recognize and report issues of abuse and neglect. School has Internal Complaints Committee . Anybody who witnesses or suspects child sexual abuse or gets to know about an incident from children should report it to the Committee members.
