The qualifications aim to develop students’ knowledge, understanding and skills through:
• In-depth subject content.
• Learning to work independently.
• knowledge and understanding to new as well as familiar situations.
• Handling and evaluating different types of information sources.
• Thinking logically and presenting ordered and coherent arguments and explanations.
• Studying and communicating in English.
• It is widely recognised as a gold standard qualification with its emphasis on in-depth knowledge, deep understanding, and development of strong reasoning abilities in students.
• The syllabuses are international in outlook but retain a local relevance.
• Cambridge qualifications are recognized by universities and employers worldwide.
• Cambridge International AS & A Levels are recognized by UCAS, UK universities and institutions overseas as equivalent in standard and grade to the AS and A Levels taken by students in the UK.
• Cambridge International AS & A Level courses and exams prepare US high school students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in college and university.
• Cambridge offers students the option of appearing for their final Grade 12 examination (A-Levels) in February/March.
• This timeline works very well in the Indian context as it enables students to prepare and appear for entrance tests for various undergraduate courses in India (which are all scheduled in the month of May).
• Cambridge International offers the option of Staged Assessment for AS/A Levels – This implies that students can appear for one board exam at the end of Grade 11 (AS Level that covers 50% of the syllabus). The remaining 50% (A2 level) is given at the end of Grade 12.
• This option works very well for students (as they prepare and appear for part of the syllabus and not the entire syllabus at one time) and is well recognized and accepted by colleges/universities inIndia and overseas.
