Shouldn\u2019t we be what we\nchoose (and not forced) to become. What is it that will make life (and work)\nworth living? With my own experience I have learnt that being focussed,\ninformed, and aware of what I want to do, focussing on my strengths and likes\nhas imparted me the courage to face failures and made me more responsible of my\nown decisions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going back to the discussion on Quora: The most\ncommonly resentful things discussed in the thread included:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Forced to study a particular\nsubject\/stream (probably because of parents\/peer\/teachers pressure)<\/li><li>Overburdened with school work<\/li><li>Forced to choose a career that they\ndon\u2019t want to and end up being frustrated.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>I read the students saying, lectures are boring\nand attending them has been made mandatory where one is prohibited from <em>talking, eating and surfing the internet<\/em>!!\nThey further say that they are forced to sit in <em>mindless lecture and do nothing!!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"482\" height=\"486\" data-src=\"https:\/\/bvrtse.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/our-education-system.jpg\" alt=\"our education system\" class=\"wp-image-53 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/bvrtse.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/our-education-system.jpg 482w, https:\/\/bvrtse.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/our-education-system-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/bvrtse.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/our-education-system-298x300.jpg 298w, https:\/\/bvrtse.in\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/our-education-system-268x270.jpg 268w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 482px) 100vw, 482px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 482px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 482\/486;\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You will agree with me when I say that growing\nup is fun, exciting, with new friends, campus life, etc. Ask any adult about\ntheir school\/college time, the unanimous reaction is to fondly recall them as\nthe best days of their lives. It\u2019s intriguing, how can the days, which one\ndetests in the present, are cherished so warmly when viewing through the prism\nof time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ikigai <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Japanese secret to a long and happy life. Ikigai\nisn\u2019t just another guide on \u2018how to be happy\u2019. The ultimate goal of Ikigai is\nnot happiness \u2013 it is about having a life worthwhile, fulfilled, and with no\nregrets. Practising Ikigai helps one discover the life\u2019s purpose that provides\nmeaning to existence. The aim is to discover things you\u2019re good at and that\ngive you pleasure while doing. However, a parallel pursuit of something you enjoy\ncan help you come one step closer to a balanced life. That\u2019s why it is\nimportant to keep aside everyday a time for something you love doing \u2013 maybe a\nhobby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is that the world needs?\n<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Try to see the bigger picture and identify how\nyou can be a part of the jigsaw puzzle. By doing that you will know where you\nare needed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By doing community work, maybe offering service\nor by volunteering. Aligning your skills with real-world needs will make you\nfeel good about yourself. Another step in achieving Ikigai.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can pay you? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, earning money is important too. It is\nsomething that will keep your worries at rest. A passionate pursuit of one\u2019s\ngoals that also contributes towards financial stability and independence is\noften the best prescription for a happy, fulfilling life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is that you are good\nat? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Identify your skills, your talent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Talent \u2013 not necessarily that you are born with\nbut that you get better at with your diligence, dedication, and discipline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have answers to all the above\nquestions, you have found your Ikigai.\n\nThere is passion inside each one of us, a unique\ntalent that confers meaning to our days and drives us to share the best of\nourselves until the very end.
