In a poem that expresses Tagore's goals for international education, he writes:

Where the mind is without fear
and the head is held high,
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken
up into fragments by narrow domestic
walls;
Where words come out from the
depth of truth;
Where tireless striving
stretches its arms towards
perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason
has not lost its way into the
dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward
by thee into ever widening
thought and action
into that heaven of freedom,
my Father,
Let my country awake.

Rabindranath Tagore dedicated forty years of his life to his educational institution at Santiniketan, West Bengal. He envisioned an education that was deeply rooted in one's immediate surroundings but connected to the cultures of the wider world.

Rabindranath Tagore believed that the highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with all existence.

At BVRTSE, in keeping with Tagore's aspirations our aim is in fulfilling our student's dreams and having a productive life by teaching the value of education early in their life.The children of today are gearing up to become adult citizens of tomorrow. Schools must stimulate curiosity in the young, impressionable minds and equip them with tools to be better human beings. Our teaching and learning processis instrumental in shaping the child's personality and the way he/she deals with situations of life. The shift of thoughts from bookish knowledge to knowledge of life, has brought forth a sea of change. At RTSE we believe that education is the key to a well-rounded development instead of just a means to acquire degrees and monetary success in life. Education must facilitate the cultivation of a healthy thought process and groom our child's abilities. In the present competitive world, education is a basic necessity for human beings after food, clothes and shelter.

Life is also about learning, apart from living. While we can learn to a certain extent from our parents, they tend to be unilateral. At school, children are exposed to various sources from whom they can imbibe immense knowledge, instrumental for their development. Hence school is necessary for children to inculcate " the workings of life ".

The fundamentals taught to children in the Paleolithic era are passe Today, in the 21stcentury the classroom must extend beyond its four walls. Our teaching and learning environment is formed in a way that our teachers help our students to function as researchers, discoverers and problem solvers. Every faculty member is engaged directly in articulating the vision for excellence in education.

Education forms the foundation of any society. It is responsible for the economic, social, and political growth and development of society in general. The thread of the growth of society depends upon the quality of education that is being imparted. So schools play an important role in moulding a nation's future by facilitating all round development of its future citizens.

At BVRTSE our aim is to fill our student's hearts with joy and love. We recognize that emotions, and particularly joy, are a precondition for successful learning not only because they make learning less strenuous, but also because they enable the learner not only to know but also enjoy what they are learning. Leonardo da Vinci has quoted; " Study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in."

We avidly support effective and innovative professional development that encourages teachers to be reflective and to continuously examine our practice to provide quality teaching and learning for each student. My role as Principal is to keep up with latest trends and research and be an active partner in the school's professional development.

Our aim is to enthuse and challenge staff and students to be inventive and imaginative in their learning of day to day tasks.We Leave no stones unturned to inspire staff, students and community to work together to promote student achievement and well-being. Celebrating successes and acknowledging hard work of staff, students and community is one of the contributors to a happy school environment. All staff, students and community should feel valued and appreciated at school.

The aesthetic development of the senses is as important as the intellectual if not more so and music, literature, art, dance and drama are given great prominence in the daily life of the school.

Community engagement and involvement in the school is important to me as Principal. I regularly consult with my community as part of school self-review and encourage community engagement in the curriculum and learning programmes.

To borrow the words of Robert Frost; "I am not a teacher, but an awakener." I believe that having quality, inspirational and passionate teachers is essential to a school's success.

Rabindranath Tagore's PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION in a nutshell: Create a system of education aimed at promoting international co-operation and creating global citizens.

In keeping with his theory I believe my role as an educator is to guide and nurture the next generation to establish skills to achieve health, respect, prosperity and fulfillment.

Our motto: "Reach high, for stars lie hidden in you. Dream deep, for every dream precedes the goal." Rabindranath Tagore
